Guide to Basecamp Resort

A very unique escape nestled on the hills just above the Guadalupe River outside of Hunt, TX. Expect to be enveloped by all aspects of what the Texas Hill Country has to offer. From the beautiful 200yr old oaks, to the crystal clear waters of Basecamp Lake, to the axis deer and other native animals, expect your cup to overflow with the beauty that Basecamp has to offer.  The Lodge is a beautiful log home that was built by the original owner of the property several years ago. It has been fully restored to offer you a very comfortable, quiet, and enjoyable stay.

The cabins offer an affordable and very comfortable opportunity to enjoy the unique aspects of the property while providing amenities that you would expect at a resort.

The Luxury Tents offer an over-the-top experience that will not disappoint. Nestled among the oaks, this type of accommodation is the only one in the area.

Before You Leave Home

We will provide you with an access key code before arrival. This will allow you to check yourself in to the property. Please ensure you have the code before you travel. If not, please contact us at support@basecampresort.com There’s nothing worse than arriving somewhere new (potentially at night) and not being able to get in!

Check-in time is 3pm and 4pm at The Lodge. We can sometimes arrange an early check-in so please contact us if you will arrive early and we’ll do our best, without any promises. If you are arriving early, have a look at the Local Area Guide section. We’ve listed lots of things to do around the area – it’s time for you to kick back and start relaxing!

Arrival Information

Here’s a basic list of what you might want to bring on your vacation. You’ll no doubt have your own needs, but we thought this might be helpful, knowing what we do about the amenities in this home!

  • Personal toiletries
  • Camera, memory cards
  • Personal electronics chargers
  • Flashlights, batteries
  • Folding chairs for sitting by the river or the lake

If you arrive early, take a minute and spend some time at Bridget’s Basket, which is only a mile down the road going towards Hunt, TX.  The Hunt Store is also a popular place to grab a bite to eat and stock up on cold beverages.  We haven’t tried it yet, but there’s a wine bar in Ingram that recently called Joanne, Marie and Me.  If you don’t mind about a 10 minute drive, there’s lots of options in Kerrville.  Some of our favorites are Grape Juice and Pint and Plow.

About the Accommodations

The Fridge/freezer: You should not need to adjust any settings. If you run into any difficulties (e.g. it’s not cooling efficiently) please let us know.

The Cooktop and Oven: The cooktop and oven are both electric at The Lodge, Carmel Cottage & Rocking F Rambler.  The tents and Casita Juanita have a microwave and an electric griddle for cooking.

The outdoor grill is propane, so no charcoal is needed.

The Lodge:  You will find a panel on the living room wall that allows you to control the temperature of the Master bedroom, kitchen and living room.  There’s a second unit on the wall in the 2nd living area that controls the three additional bedrooms, the upstairs loft and the 2nd living area.

The Tents, Casita Juanita & Rocking F Rambler:  These accommodations all have a mini-split, which is a unit that both heats and cools.  If it’s hot outside, it’s best to keep the windows covered, which will help keep the cabin or tent cooler.

The Lodge is our only unit with a washer and dryer.  It is located in the utility room next to the kitchen. There is a supply of detergent for your use. To operate the machines, simply select the program you want, place the detergent in the tray, close the door, and hit start.

All smart TVs stream Hulu for local channels.  Feel free to use your own apps on the TVs, but please remember to log out before you leave.  This will ensure other guests aren’t using your account.  We are not responsible if a guest uses your account after departure.

We have an outdoor hot tub available for your use at each property.  Please rinse off in the shower and remove any make up or lotion before entering the hot tub.  This will make the hot tub oily and cloudy.

There is free Wi-Fi for your use and the password will be sent to you prior to your arrival.  The service is provided for your enjoyment but you are responsible for safe and appropriate use and complying with all laws. If there is any loss of service please contact us.

Check-out time is strictly 11am and 10am at The Lodg. Should you require a later check-out we will do our best but arrange it with us beforehand. If we have guests arriving that day it will be almost impossible to offer a late check-out due to the cleaners needing to prepare for those guests.

Before your departure, we would appreciate if you would take care of the following:

  • Leave the beds unmade. No need to strip them.
  • Place used towels in the shower.
  • Load the dishwasher (where available) and start it.
  • Move all furniture and items back to original location if moved during your stay.
  • Set thermostat to 85F / 29C.
