From where the Saints begin? How do they help people and why? Whether it is really possible and why we need such God’s “ambassadors”. People always had a lot of questions regarding this matter. In this article, we will try to explain everything and present you new facts.
The word “Saint” can be deciphered as “that is taken from above, from the sky”. Greek “agios”, a word which is an ancestor of the modern word “saint” is translated as unearthly. It is also can be translated as separated, cut off, or other.
Actually, only God always called the Saint. The ancient prophet delighted on the sky sees the God’s Throne in heaven, around fly Angela and appeal: “It is sacred, sacred, sacred, Lord of Hosts …” The Saints can be person or some religious subject, only if sanctity is told by God if God attaches to the Sanctity.
Therefore, the Saint means t God’s. Does not matter who do the job; God performs the work. In the highest sense, it is that in whom as told the Scripture and the Legend, God “was represented”.
In the last sense today, Christians also understand this word. Hardly will you find the person who will tell that he is a Saint. It, at least, is immodest. On the contrary, the more righteous person, the more obvious to him that he is from God, from his God’s purity, righteousness. Sanctity is separated by a huge distance.
However, in the ancient time, for example in the Old Testament, the Israel people were called the Saint. Not because Jews were simply pure but because it was God’s people. As God, when Jews left the Egyptian captivity, has told the people and have approached Mount Sinai: “So, if you obey my voice and to observe my precept, then you will be my destiny from all people because my all earth, and you will be to Me a kingdom of priests and the people sacred”. A bit later command: “… be consecrated and be Saint because I (Your Lord) am Saint”.
Here the fact that Israel people were the people of God as if separated, cut off from a number of other people, allowed it to be called the sacred people.
Later such naming was acquired to themselves and by Christians. They, as successors of Shabby Israel, moreover, as the true admirers of God who recognized his Son called themselves by the people the Saint, Saints. Saints called the pupils and the apostle Pavel in the Messages.
And when in the Creed we call the Saint Church, it means not that the Church consists of Saint People, but that it is the God’s Church. And to its members, God gives sanctity of Church.
